In a time where many of us are conducting business online, we think it’s important to put a face to a name. Our Staff Spotlight series will give you a little insight into the lives of our Nicholsons colleagues. Let’s find out a bit more about Senior Associate, Nick Prove.
How long have you been with Nicholsons?
Since 2013, following an earlier stint between 2002 and 2005.
What made you choose a career in law?
A natural affinity for the role – which is really about looking after someone’s interests and striving to get the desired outcome.
What does your job entail?
Doing the above, for property and business transactions.
What’s the most exciting thing you are working on right now?
A number of deals involving businesses in regional parts of the state – there’s a surge of optimism amongst the people and businesses in country towns. After many years of steady decline, it’s hard not to be excited.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Still in Brissie, and very much doing what I do now!
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
Be persistent and don’t cut corners.
What’s something that most people don’t know about you?
I’m a mad Demons fan (the ‘Dees’ are the Melbourne Football Club to those not in-the-know). I’ll be savouring the 2021 AFL Premiership for a while to come!
If you could visit any place in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
NZ – I’ve only heard great things about it.
How would your family and friends describe you in three words?
Loyal, pragmatic and positive.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Inevitably, it’s something involving my kids – camping on holidays, watching their sports, and plenty of driving to pick them up and drop them off!
What is your motto or personal mantra?
I like the “Be Prepared” mantra of Baden Powell.
What is the one thing, you can’t live without?
Eggs on toast – done any way – with a coffee.
