Scheduling FAQs

Here is an how-to video which we created to help walk you through how to share screens, schedule a meeting, share details of the meeting, and start the meeting.

You should add a password to any meeting where confidential information may be discussed  - here is a guide to adding passwords in GTM.

Tips for video meetings

If you're planning to host or participate in a video conference - here is a good article with 22 tips for effective video presentations, which we ask you to consider.  The tips include many practical things, like:

  • Sit close to the screen. Your face should fill most of it.
  • When you’re not talking, hit mute.
  • Don’t sit with the window behind you. A little effort on lighting goes a very long way.
  • Test the platform beforehand, especially if you are going to show slides.

Keeping in touch with family and friends
If you want to keep in touch with family or friends using a 'cross-platform' system, we are making GoToMeeting account 3 (nichs.gtm3) available for your personal non-work use, from 7pm - 5am on weekdays and from 7pm Friday to 5am Monday (so - all weekend).  Be reasonable in its use please. You know where to get the password.

Tips for home working
Here is an excellent article 3 Tips to avoid WFH Burnout (Harvard Business Review) which mentions the need to:
  • Establish 'boundary-crossing' activities - physical and social indicators that you’ve transitioned from “home you” to “work you.”
  • Maintain temporal boundaries as much as possible - finding work-time budgets which function best for you,
  • Focus on your most important work - this is not the time for busy work; you should be devoting your energy to top-priority issues.
  • Realise that working all the time, even on your most important tasks, isn’t the answer.
