Relevant Experience

John practices in the firms’ commercial litigation department and brings substantial experience in a range of matters including company commercial, partnership and insurance disputes. John also has a particular interest and extensive experience in litigation and regulatory investigations involving allegations of fraud or dishonesty or breaches of professional duty. John has acted both for and against government, professional and statutory bodies in relation to the exercise of their investigatory and prosecutorial powers.

Examples of John’s work include the following:

• advising on and giving evidence in director disqualification proceedings relating to the failure of a public listed company at one time having a stock market capitalisation exceeding $1.5 billion. 
• advising on a series of related professional indemnity insurance claims exceeding $20million where there were allegations of dishonesty.
• advising on the winding up of unauthorised managed (collective) investment schemes valued in excess of $100 million (including subsequent recovery and enforcement action across a range of securities).
• advising in a $10million partnership dispute involving property in various foreign jurisdictions.
• Intellectual property disputes including claims involving Bose and Sky TV (UK). 
• Cross boarder tracing and recovery proceedings.
